School Has Started.....

Well, the night before we all started back to school I started the ritual. I took the summer quilt off my bed and switched to one of my favorite quilts, my Dick & Jane. To me it is most appropriate since I learned to read with the Dick & Jane books and my kids enjoyed the reprint of the books too when they were in K-1st grade. It is a bittersweet switch but life goes on. We can't live in Summertime every day! Here is a picture of the boys on Day 1. We were hurrying out the door so I didn't get the great shot I wanted. At least we recorded history.

Is There Such a Thing as An Ugly Quilt?

Well, you be the judge...(see picture to the right) I started this quilt at the retreat and decided to finish it no matter how 'ugly' I think it is. Cindy gave me the idea to make it a summer quilt by sewing the backing and top right sides together and then turning it right side out. No batting. I think it needed something so I scallopped the top and bottm sides. It has just a few vertical lines that follow the brick path rows to hold it together and it is top stitched all around. Well, maybe it didn't turn out that bad afterall........
